In Minneapolis our grass is still green. But the pond across the street is frozen.

Its going to get worse before it gets better.

Jackdaw, after all the insane and illegal water stunting you did on the Pogo, it is only fair the pond is frozen ;-)

Totally true. I'll just have to transfer my 'home water' to Texas, and jump on the Extreme 25. I'm pretty sure Canyon Lake has NEVER froze. Ever.

Yeah but like everyting else that far south, it's likely drying up.

Further west--this could get me shot at--not so bad. Sunday in Santa Barbara & Ventura it was absolutely clear w/sunny skies, warmish light breeze from the west, spectacular views of the California Channel Islands. Today, not as good. Another front is evidently on its way.

It looks like time to reposition the boats to the Gulf Coast. Our temps have been cooling off we had a frigid morning at 58F and it went to a cool 76F in the afternoon. There is no snow in the 10 day forecast and it is guaranteed. Sorry guys, this is our sailing season as the winds pick up from the doldrums of summer and we don't roast in the cockpit.

It's really all seasons here in So. Cal., probably more so than in SW Florida b/c there is no sweltering "summer doldrums" to endure. Almost no thunderstorms at the coast, no hurricanes or tropical storms, no sub-zero temps, & no mosquitos. Sea breezes of 15 kt nearly every summer afternoon; warmish Santa Ana (offshore) winds in winter may be fair if sailing close to shore; island destinations within 25 - 40 n.mi. of most harbors, & slip vacancies all around right now. Hard to beat.

Sunny and nice here, but temp topped out at 41f. I can see snow in the mountains where it belongs.

You need to go further West. Get away from the Great White North. It is cold and clear here right now. ~ 0C and clear at night and ~+10C and sunny during the day. Our typical is ~ +5C at night and +10C during the day. We sail all year round. Just put your rain gear on.

Sorry, Meriachee, temps in SE PA have been above 60º the past 2 days, and sunny. Unseasonable, to be sure, but we had frost a couple nights ago. Instead of mowing the damn grass which refuses to stop growing, today I hauled my drysuit and Force 5 up to the lake to blast around in 13 knot puffs. And, yes, I was thankful for the drysuit when that gybe went poorly. On the plus side, I can confirm that the Force 5 doesn't turtle immediately, and is reasonably easy to right. It also goes like a scalded cat in the puffs. Which is nice, because I bought it for planing, and to hand my a$$ to me. Both objectives reached on the first sail! :D:D:D

That white stuff is depressing! Come on now, just tropical pictures so those of us in the middle states can avoid thinking about winter for a little longer!

You shoulda put up that fence like I asked last year. Now I'll be sending pictures like this.
All U Get
Keep sending them. We're masters at getting others to do our work, I believe the fencebuilder is the new wannabe, Donald.
