Who is heading out tonight to view the Super/Blood/Eclipse of the moon tonight. Let's see the pictures. Nothing better than a night sail and a celestial show all at the same time. :yeah:

It just came up over the Chesapeake Bay at 7. It looks like a spotlight!

Cloudy and rainy here. If you have a celestial guide you might be able to see Uranus once the moon is dark. Use the moon as a guide and look down and to the left. Binoculars will allow you to see a faint blue-green "star." If you're *really*good and have high-powers binoculars you could even see Neptune up and to the right. I've seen Neptune once but have never found Uranus.

Amazing! Sunset to port and moon rise to starboard simultaneously. Then the grand finale, the eclipse. Sailing was lousy with light fickle wind but the show was worth it.

Here in Tampa Bay, I had my binoculars & digital camera w/zoom lens ready to go.

The eclipse started & I positioned my lounge chair at just the right angle.
Everything was set & then the cloud cover rolled in. Waited thru four hours & nothing could be seen. I gave up at this point.

What a BUMMER!

Sorry to hear that Ron. I was concerned as we had some cloud cover but luck was with us as they moved out in time to see everything. JSG, thanks. Arizona has a great climate for this sort of event. Dry. I had a few people from my Meetup.com group out and they were ecstatic with the whole thing. Best part is we are all still here. LOL.

Happily, it was clear and dark in Minnesota last night. Photographer friend got this shot.

Hey Tenacity are you out of Port Credit? I saw the clouds to the west and was hoping they didn't head east. Luckily they were heading northeast but that made it lousy for you folks at that end of the Lake.

just another eclipse photo

Wow, some great photos and interesting stories.

25yearslater, post #5 awesome collection started off with that sunset. Awesome sunset!!!

We were visiting our daughter’s family yesterday and there was a great web site for info on tracking the event at http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/seattle

There is a scroll bar under the picture and a time in the upper right corner so one can see what it should look like at any particular time. I entered Seattle as a location and this animated page was just what the doctor ordered.

My son-in-law took a picture with his iPhone:

Oh, guess I should mention it was through his 10” telescope.

We had a great season Tenacity. Even had a fun time of it when the Lake Ontario 300 fleet came through out of Port Credit. We took a bunch of photos as we threaded our way south taking care to avoid them and keeping their wind clean as it was light that evening. It is on the website https://www.facebook.com/SHTRLO300LOSHr I am out Oct 12 which is a bummer.

Thanks John. Actually my son took them as I struggled to keep the boat steady. The wind was so light and fickle the boat literally went in a circle at one point due to no rudder control. I have since removed all evidence from the GPS tracking mechanism. It never happened.

Great to hear, I'm hauling out on Oct 11 as well, I use to have an O'day28 for years and followed your post on all the work you did on YOT, enjoyed very much.

Managed a few but the haze was pretty thick early on making a good shot tough.

Caught a plane going by during totality

And thankfully We were spared Ragnorok and the moon was returned to its proper place.
