Washdown pump

Hi all,

We finally anchored out and had a little issue while raising 110 feet of chain. Our wash-down pump failed to work. So after docking and unloading 120 feet of chain and mud, we washed the chain with fresh water as it returned to the locker. We spent the evening unpacking all the stores in the V-birth so I could get at the pump. From the squeal I'd say the bearings were seized.

The pump head is a Banks 115 V ac unit and I can't find anything online about the unit. The PO had two pre-plumbed spray heads at the bow rollers and a hose coil for a more direct spray. The pump runs all three nozzles at once so I'm looking for volume and pressure. Everything online is DC. Has anyone heard of Banks and/or who bought them out?

Here's a pic showing the pre-plumbed sprayers.

Thanks for the information. I should have brought more specs on the pump home with me, wasn't thinking. I asked the marina pump guy to look at it. He said he would take it to the bench (that never sounds good). If it looked beyond repair he said he'd call back. No call so maybe it was frozen bearings. I'll find out over the weekend, without the wash-down pump, we'll look for a chunk of granite to drop the hook on.

That's a pretty good eye, yes a Hood Sea-furl. It works well with the sails we're using. We also have one on the staysail.

Well my pump has been restored. Its a Burks turbine pump not Banks that I could remember (plus my lousy writing). I didn't see the service manager over the weekend so I'll touch base tomorrow. At one horsepower it does flow plenty water.
