EcoClad out of business.

Hello All,

As I shop for options on our upcoming bottom job, I find that Eco Clad is out of business. We spent WAAAAY TOO MUCH money on stripping the bottom to the FG and coating with the full Eco Clad system.

Our chosen boat yard has recommended striping to the FG again and putting down a barrier coat and then painting. Is there another hard paint out there that will do well on top of eco clad? I hate to pay for this stripping job again.

Thank you in advance,
SM

Not sure

But from what I read about it, Eco Clad was not compatable with any other paint.

Another anti fouling magic bullet that wasn't. What a surprise.

Are there any more thoughts on what I can do here? Hate to strip all the way to the FG again.

if it were me i would soda blast it to fiberglass and do a barrier coat with west systems epoxy and additive and then use pettit trinidad bottom paint ..the soda blasting would be around $600.00 to $750.00 depending on your negotiation skills soda blasting would be the best and fastest way to go ...there is a woman down your way ...i think here name is mable or something like that... that you may go talk to about this and i think the yard she works out of will let you do your own bottom work although these suggestions i have given you are valled they are not cast in stone good luck

Perhaps call Interlux? Perhaps call a dealer like Jamestown Distributors? If they don't know, they may direct you to someone who will.

Thanks,

Andrew

Talk to Pettit, they claim that their Hydrocoat bottom paint will go over anything. I know once it dries, it ain't never coming off my old rubber foulies!

Even if they told me it isn't recommended, I would try it because it is a hard ablative and if it sticks you aren't building paint on top of that EcoClad stuff.
