Anyone who has a subscription for XMSirius might have interest in the following >>:

While my wife was listening to XMSirius yesterday, she heard that Channel 31 will be trending towards "Yacht/Boat" music for the next month or so. (think stuff like "Sloop John-B" by the Beach Boys or "Orinoco Flow" by Enya.)

I will check it out eventually. And if it is as advertised, I will convert a few hours of feed from the anolog audio to digital and put on a USB drive or two for when I feel inclined for some nostalgia moments in the future.

Since about 15-20 years ago, my wife and I are "life-time" subscription members of SiriusXM radio. We paid once way back then and we got them "forever" (or we hope so!) Frankly, I don't listen to it much, but my wife has it on all the time over our home receiver for disco, 70's, 80's, and 90's channels. (For me however these stations now "gag me with a spoon" after listening to these period hits time-and-time-again ever since college in the early/mid 1970's.)

Their tag line is "You don't have to own a yacht to enjoy Yacht Rock but it helps." I kinda like their music. Channel 32 is somewhat better, though. And I LOVE Outlaw Country on channel 60. Great stuff there.

Listened on and off all day while on the road. Not a bad channel, although the Chris Cross was a little repetitive.

Yeah, it seems that it have been very stereotypical to associate Christopher Cross and Jimmy Buffett with sailing/boating. Whenever I go to an event such as parties by the harbor or yacht club parties, that is all I hear.

I listened to it a little today. It's what my younger brother referred to as "makeout music." It's ok for a short while but gets old if my First Mate isn't around. Channel 32 is similar but better in the long run. With or without anyone to makeout with. ;-)

I had no idea that there were other channels other than 7 (70's on 7). :)

We share music on our iTunes in our family and each of us have our music tastes so mostly we use those.

:naughty:

Yes, I profess the same "I don't listen very much" behavior. Much like back in college when I read Playboy, Rolling Stone, and MAD Magazines just for the interviews and the clothes advertisements! :D

My radio only came with channel 100. I'll have to check my subscription.

Try 32. I like 7 but like 32 better most of the time. I'd hate to lose either one.

Speaking of thread drift, if y'all'd like we could talk about how to get better-than-published rates for the subscription.

I'm game to learn a new trick or two. I just set a reminder in my phone about 2 weeks before my subscription renews, then call to cancel. Once I get a price I'm happy with, I agree to continue my service.
