Mike and Sandy don't post on here but I thought their current trip would be of interest to others.

They have a Macgregor X that they have taken to Alaska and back from Seattle.....

They have been a real inspiration to me and were my inspiration to do my trip to the Bahamas with the Mac,

I'm glad to see you posting on here again...

On the expansion of my sailing ambitions... I feel like you are about 5 steps ahead of me and showing me the way.... small-ish boats... big sailing....

I tried to do a 3 week trip last summer starting in Oriental, NC... got chased back to the trailer by hurricane Arthur... (bummer)... managed to trailer to a large reservoir in VA and spent a week but it was not the big adventure I was hoping for....this year I had a change in work circumstances that limited my vacation time ....and only got to trailer my hobie 16 to Florida for a week.... shortest sailing season of my life... but the week I did get was epic.... On one particular day... I did a 14 mile stretch of beach in 40 minutes... :dance:

Keep posting... I need a vicarious sailing fix.

I'm planning a 6 week trip next summer... wish me luck.

Let's see..... 14 miles in 20 minutes.... a 42 MPH average!. Was that sailing the Hobie or driving your car on the beach? If it was on the beach cat you might be getting a job offer from Larry Ellison pretty soon.

I had to fix it... the beach was 7 miles long and I did a down and back and I did that in 20 (the down part)... and got sloppy (no coffee yet)

But yes... it can do 60+ behind my car...
