That's not racist, it's typical. Why in the hell would anyone be offended?

Oh that's right, EVERYONE is offended nowadays..

Here's the definitive word on sharks.
Edit: Video removed due to perceived racist remarks. I also found references to fat people, people-eating bear, meat-ministers being eaten by sharks, chickens being killed and eaten, God, Jesus and The Lord. Also pigs being killed and eaten. Plus numerous grammatical errors that could be viewed as demeaning.
And she's producing a youtube vid while driving.

See pic from a month or so back. we were sailing on an almost wind-less, lazy morning and looked behind the boat. There's about a 6-8 footer just lazing along behind us with two babies. They followed us for about 30-45 minutes - and that did really concern the Admiral! (This is inside Tampa Bay).

However, This is the water we gladly jump in at anchor and enjoy all the time.

I don't think there's anything you can tell your wife that will make her at ease, It's just something you all need to do and find out that encounters are seldom....

And how about finding this, hissing at me when pulling up the outboard engine?
Holy crap! And I was gonna ask if I could sail with you sometime. Not to worry. You're off the hook!

fwiw, the 'babies' are remora's they are scavengers that have suctions on their heads and attach to the underside of sharks. -totally harmless.

neat video of tiger shark circling, and about to steal a catch. notice how its very cautiously approached the catch... that's pretty typical. slow approach, plenty of time to get away.. they are only there for the fish.

Sorry, Kermit, would have liked to have you sailing with me.
Understand a snake is the frog's scare.
Surely I would rather sail with a frog than with such a big snake.
Regarding being off the hook, I could push it finally off with my boat hook.

Frogs aside, I feel the same way about snakes as others feel about sharks. My fear is totally irrational but it's real. I'm just as afraid of a dead non-poisonous snake as a living poisonous snake. I wish I could get over it. I guess it has something to do with slithering. Dang. Even the word gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Chris.. the video was not racist.... no one said it was.. it was funny, very funny. Unfortunately, an a-hole racist rant was posted by a reader on the same YOUTUBE page beneath the video header. Apparently, Kermit... bless his heart... removed the clip to prevent any possibility of something like that occurring here.

And I thought heart-blessing was strictly a Southern thing. Come sail with me anytime, Joe!

Kermit'

You old scally wag. Just use your saber to scare them thar snakes off.

Working in tall grass removing rock, logs, etc., I use by weed eater and so far nailed about three. They run when the weed whacker is coming thru. Funny to see them run.

2. This is the 'big' one... the sample population used in the math is usually the entire population of a given state or country. This is bollocks...
Good analysis. As you inferred, A shark attack still isn't very probable, but the odds are considerably higher if you're actually in the ocean :)

Video was pretty funny, never said I didn't like it.... I was talking about the comments section beneath the header... but you're probably right about the fresh air. Anyway, I don't need a lecture on freedom of speech... I only expect you to defend my right to speak as much as the bigot who wrote that dribble. Are we cool?

Well I do live in Southren California, heh heh. Most of my family are in East Texas and Arkansas.... I was born in Dallas, which makes me a naturalized big mouth... but I don't think Texans think of themselves as "southerners" in the same way that the more genteel southeasterners do.

I'll be out in Florida around October/November.... never can tell who you might run into...
