Please find attached irrefutable proof that there was an occurrence of wind in Alberta the other day. The state of the water is that proof, because we had to borrow some rail meat to get the boat to heel over like this.
Happy Thursday.

You sure about that being wind ?

Wave action could have been from a PWC passing by a little too close.

Usually the rail meat is to keep the boat upright, not heel over. Or are they on the leeward side to make the photo look like there is more action than there really was? :naughty:

Well, there was a party barge in the vicinity. There's always a party barge in the vicinity.

In light air we put crew on the low side to:

Help the sails stay filled by allowing their weight to fill their shape

Decrease wetted surface area, decreasing hydrodynamic drag.

Like this.

Jack, isn't that the shot just before the one where you lose your balance and go over the side?

I'll give you half of our Christmas winds this year, if you like. Say 12 to 18 knots?

We have had two conditions this summer: too much wind and six foot chop or flat calm and flies. I'm just about ready to put the boat into winter storage.

Not me, but I think Pia fell asleep. She could have rolled in. August is our worst wind month in Minneapolis. On Lake Superior we're good because it creates it own breeze. Down here we're had 3 races in a row (including last night) abandoned because of a lack of wind.

No wind, not enough water ...

We haven't had any wind since the lake level came up high enough to put our boat in the water. Before that, wind was great. Now the lake level has just about dropped to the level where she is about to come out. I'll look for wind about then.

sheesh! :cussing:

Let me add another factor at the Jersey shore on Barnegat Bay and the Atlantic. Getting out of the marina at low or near low tide can be iffy. The wind has not been the greatest. And if the wind is good but out of the West you get inundated with the flies that bite and hurt and itch. Scott, if you want to try let me know.

Down by the shore they have plenty of these and the wind blows all the time. Just turn a few of these on and you'll have plenty wind.
