If you were redoing your cushions - would you change anything about the cushion layout for the aft cabin. My boat didn't come with cushions back there so I'm cutting new foam and wanted some input as to whether there's a better design than the original layout. Thanks in advance!

Yes re-do the layout if you plan on actually sleeping in there. We had a custom mattress made out of two kinds of foam. But it looks like cushions. Then had a pillow top cover cut to fit.The three piece factory was very uncomfortable. We elected to have a two pice made.We made the pieces run port and starboard instead of bow to stern. That way you can slide the first piece over the second to access the cover over the back of the engine Don't forget to measure where the gaps are.You do not want your hip bones in any gaps where the cushions come together. It was one of the pinnacle upgrades to our boat.See a couple of pics.

More smaller as long as they don't impinge on sleeping positions. BIG cushions are inherently clumsy.

thank you so much! that's exactly what I'm looking for. Is it hard to move such a large front cushion out of the way?

Well it is not very easy to take it out of the cabin. But it is easy to just slide one over the other. They are heavy because of the quality.I guess it depends on what you make the mattress out of.Get a piece and lay on it.Lay on your side. If your hip bone collapses it to the bottom you will not sleep well.
