Port dimensions 1982 Hunter Cherubini 36/SL

hello All! I ran a search for this topic and didn't see anything, but please correct me if I'm wrong (noob).

Can anyone advise me what the port sizes are on the 1982 36? I am going to pick up my project Cherubini and forgot to ask surveyor to measure for me. any comments as to replacement ports are welcome.

I believe that those on my new-to-me '81 H36 are four 512's forward, two 715's midships and four 818's aft - all Bowmar Gray series.

This is correct. I made the mistake of thinking it was 6 715s - sadly it's not.

I was going to replace all the ports with the ones from new found metals, but the 818s are a few hundred bucks each more than the 715s, so that's been put off for a while!

Especially with the CAD->USD exchange rate right now

Update: I haven't replaced any of the portlights yet - I'm told that they take a few weeks to fabricate and nobody stocks them. Since I want to replace them myself, I'm going to have to plan a few days to get this done. The boat is on the dry in south Florida and I'm out of state.

If you haven't purchased new yet and are sticking with Bowmar I suggest checking withJim Lamb, MMI Marine, Newport Beach, CA. Prices seem favorableand he's very helpful.

I think I have to replace mine, or at least some of them, but that will be post season since I'm way behind in my season's sailing after a late start this year. Pls post photos etc of your experience once you go ahead.

The Gray Enterprises portlites, sizes 512, 715 & 818, are all available on this site....or at least they were last fall when I bought mine here.

Dalliance, I just checked and the price for all 10 ports is 500+ dollars cheaper here than on the Bomar site. The only compromise is I am settling for four tinted lenses - well worth the savings to me. Thanks for that tip.

Hi Paolex,

Just wondering whether you've progressed with your port replacement and if so whether you could share some of the details?

My season will shortly come to an end and port replacement is a priority which I would therefore like to plan and proceed with as soon as possible. I would much appreciate any input you can provide re your experiences with it.

Hi T, unfortunately I haven't yet gotten to it. The boat is in Florida and so now I'm preparing for December. I should be going down in about a month to do this. I will definitely post updates about it when I do.

Any chance you could post some detail about the process of replacing in general and any specifics about doing so with the NFM ports in lieu of swapping the Bowmar originals?
