i found a snake skin in the cabin of my mac26m while on a trailer. The skin was not there on a picture taken 10 days before. not sure how he got in nor if he got back out. he did not respond to a rat trap with a piece of hot dog on it . any ideas?

Invite your wife or girlfriend on board. If your luck is anything like mine, that's when he'll reappear. Was it big?

It used to be that sounds, smells & pictures of electrical wiring were hard to diagnose via the internet.:)

This is a brand new one!:eek::eek:

Good luck, regardless of what you do...

You need to keep some good snake repellent on board. Those things will climb right up the side.

Or get a mongoose and then get another one. You need two but I didn't know what the plural was of them.

Get a container taller than the snake shed put a live mouse or rat in the container depending on how big around the shed is. Make ramp to the top of the container and check back in 24 hour. Make sure the container can not tip over.

Snakes do not like mothballs. Several folks who had problems put them around the wheels and trailer tongue jack and no more issue unless there is a tree overhead with a snake getting in that way. However, there is a green from called Kermit who can stand guard. Ha.

didn't look too big.
probably a chicken snake. I can't tell from the skin.
thought about the mothballs but haven't tried it yet.
the wife thing probably will work.
I'm trying the rat trap with steak again.

I use mothballs around the outside of my house and woodshed as a snake repellant. I think Irish Spring Soap works, too.

I have scented drier sheets scattered around my boat's cabin. They do a good job of keeping wasps out. (I keep the companionway open for ventilation.) I think that snakes would hate that smell as much as they hate mothballs. The drier sheets are tolerable for me, moth balls and Irish Spring are not.

Wow.

Unless you actually capture the snake, this provides a textbook case of the logical notion of the 'Evidence of absence'

Dont the racing guys throw a ring clip or something like that on a competitors boat deck before a race so that the other guy is wondering if his rigging is going to fall down?

Just and idea.. What about throwing a rattle snake skin in the other guys cockpit or cabin before a race?

I found another piece of snake skin behind (aft of) the batteries. Guess I could have missed it on the first survey. I like the boom fang. i'll call it that from now on.
