We are considering buying a hunter 49 2007 model .she does not have reverse cycle heat or a/c how hard is it to install ?? we would also like to install a washing machine also is this a big job ? The boat has a diesel heater so I'm also wondering does this mean the boat already hast he vents cut out and it just needs the units and ducting ??

wow I'm surprised that it does not have A/C. Can't give you an answer on the heater vents. Best bet is to grab a flashlight and crawl around. The washer/dryer, if you were to put it in its design location would be a bear. The unit is larger than the cabin entry so you would first have to disassemble the unit (i'm assuming the splendid unit only like the one you would get with a new boat). Other units you would need to measure Add plumbing and drainage and electrical. It's going to be a bear to do it but can be done.

There's a number of 49's on the market that already have these options I'd just keep looking unless the price of this makes it a really good deal.

Thankd for the reply . We are going to look at her next week all going well we live ion the west coast so we are limited in options here I don't want to have to go through the cross country transport of a boat unless I really have to . She has diesel heating and I do see vents in some of the pictures was curious were they also for the a/c . The washer is a must for my wife not liking the whole process of installing one .thanks for your help

I have a 2009 and it has air/heat in the main cabin with vents in the cabin top the unit is under the settee, the raw water pump is in the bilge and I believe is used for all three units The pump and air/heat are 220V . The forward cabin has a cold air return but no vents, the aft cabins our plumbed with vents both cabins share one unit. The washer /dryer goes in the port cabin locker that is closest to the bed, I don't know if the unit will go thru the door. I don't have a washer. The panel has breakers for all units, not sure if the wires have been run Hunter should be able to answer all your questions. On the West coast we generally don't need air. Most west coast boats have the deep keel and the west coast mast which is taller.

Thanks for tthe response I would agree a/c on the west coast is not that important but we intend to go to Mexico for a vacation etc and would be nice to have it . The washer is a must for my wife as we intend love liveaboard for long periods . I have a call into hunter about these questions and hopefully will hear back soon as we would like to go look at this boat next week but I would like some idea of coatings to add all this stuff

Ok,
The airco units are fed to ducting in the ceiling. It is a fabulous system
The main salon duct goes up behind the compression post, and branches around
The fwd cabin is also in the ceiling.
Aft cabins use traditional vents.
If your boat does not have the ducting, you can't put in airco in main & fwd cabins. No way, no how.
The washer dryer does not fit through the existing doorway.
But, you can do it by cutting the door molding & re-assembling. I've seen it done.
But, the install is complicated.
You need water, power & venting.
Most importantly, you need the stainless bracketing that holds the machine in place when the boat is heeling to starboard
This isn't trivial, but can be done.
Do not consider taking the machine apart. Bad idea
