Hunter Logo Replacement - Before/After

I ordered a replacement logo from the Hunter store on this site and just got the new graphics installed. While it is not an *exact* replacement of the '83 logo, I am VERY pleased with the result and actually like the new one better. They were able to print the logo in white and even with them moving to a new facility, it got here in less than a week. Thank you!

Great look! Very professional looking result. I was thinking about the same thing. After seeing yours I think I will do it. How hard was it to remove the old one and install the new one?

Thanks for the kind words! I removed ALL of the vinyl hull striping, registration numbers and the boat name from the transom during this project. The hardest part was removing the residue from the adhesive and that took maybe 10 hours total over the span of a couple of weekends. I used Goo Gone and a razor blade but if I ever have to do it again, I will follow the advice posted in this thread (http://forums.hunter.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=171876) to use a product from Interlux called Fiberglass Prep #202. By all reports, it works great.

As for the installation, I used a local graphics company that I had already hired to replace the hull striping and other graphics. Keeping in mind they are professionals, it only took the guy a couple minutes to apply both decals. They had the entire boat done in less than 45 minutes. Here are a couple photos of the installation. I am also adding a before to give you an idea of the vast improvement, IMHO, the new graphics add to the look of the boat.

My stripes and logo look very similar to your before picture.



We have changed her name:



We have not done the stripes yet. When you removed the white stripes and Hunter logo, how well did the blue buff up. Did you repaint or just polish the blue stripes?

Beautiful boat! My original intent was to just buff out the stripe but 32 years of UV did a number on the exposed gelcoat, as compared to what was under the original pinstripes. Personally, I was fine with a bit of fading but my wife wanted everything to look new so we opted for a vinyl stripe that is 5 1/4" wide. We left a section wide enough to apply the Hunter logo. It turned out much much better than I expected and am very happy with the results. I spent more than I wanted to but if it keeps my wife happy and on the boat with me then it was a sound investment. Would love to see the progress on your boat so please keep posting photos!
