does anyone have advice on replacing the rub rail assembly
There are two parts to it, the rigid white base/receiver and the softer black insert. The white part is screwed to the hull deck joint and the screws are sealed with caulk like 3M 4200. If you need to turn one of the corners around the transom or around the bow, a heat gun will soften it up enough, but I'd recommend practicing with a short piece on a work bench because it needs to be done slowly or the heat can scorch the rail. The black insert mates rather easily, you just push it into the slot in the white rail. Best to do it when it's warm or keep the pieces In a black plastic bag in the sun to make them as malleable as possible.
