Looking for some suggestions on what to use to remount all the deck hardware. I have an O'day 222 and want to prevent any leaks. The original compound looks to be sikaflex, is there something newer or better that you car recommend to me?

For anything that should never have to come off again (like a hull/deck seam), I prefer 3M5200. For parts that may need to come off again in a few years, 3M 4000 UV.
Never much cared for SikaFlex. In my experience, it has only lasted 2 or 3 years if exposed to UV.

For mounting deck hardware, I prefer MaineSail's butyl to all others. Remaining pliable forever is indeed its strength, but that does require some care when installing. It will continue to ooze from pressure for a while, and in fact tightening in a few steps helps. Getting the excess off the edges is very easy with say a plastic putty knife to "cut" around the item.
Before you go rebedding with whatever you choose, either Bed-it butyl tape from MaineSail, or 3M 4000 per Rod, you need to "pot" your holes in the deck. Don't use whatever butyl you find. Window/roof bedding butyl sounds the same, but it's not the same as what MaineSail has made for him. His stuff isn't that expensive, just order it if that's the direction you choose. If you choose 3M 4000 like Rod recommends, countersinking the holes as per Maine's example is still a very good idea for any bedding compound. Countersinking: It's not just for butyl

Thanks everyone for this advise. I see places on the boat where both materials will have its place. I will countersink and pot where necessary.
