Fuel gauge replacement

I am looking into replacing the sender unit in our fuel tank. It does not work. I would like to use a VDO gauge in the cockpit so I can keep an eye on it while re-fuelling. Defender sell the gauge with a float type sender unit.

The tank is polyethylene with a scad type sender unit. I'm wondering if there is any standardization on the sender unit mounting patterns on boats. I looked at the VDO website and could not find any information on the mounting hole pattern. If I'll need an adaptor plate I would prefer to make it in my shop at home than trying to rig something up once I'm back on the boat.

Has any other Hunter owner done this mod ?

Hi Bob
I replaced the gague by a monitor system from Feriello. It allows you to monitor 8 sensors with one display. I could use the installed sensors and did replace the broken / seized sensors (waste tank) with external foil sensors. It was easy to install, accepts many different kinds of sensors and does not cost a fortune. Youcan ser the details on my blog www.sv-tranquilizer.blogspot.ch under Projects.
