We managed about a 5 hour sail today. We had clouds and some sun with steady breezes.
I found it interesting how much faster our Hunter is than our previous boat (San Juan 28.)

I think I need to check my knotmeter against GPS. Hull speed is supposed to be 6.81

Hull speed is a ball park equation usually factored with the boat upright and under power. We exceed the hull speed calculation often under sail. People tend to think that is a fixed number and it really is not , given different conditions.

I won't be putting in, till the end of May. I can't wait
It just stopped snowing :cussing:and most of the water is still solid.
Might need an icebreaker before splashing by the end of the month!

Just got back from a beautiful Easter Day sail in Beaufort, SC - about 3 1/2 hours. It was a little chilly (70 degrees) but the wind was 15 knots with some gusts to 20. Just what the doctor ordered!

Did a little Sailing and Snorkeling Yesterday

Snorkled the wreck of the Copenhagen off of Pompano Beach. We were not the only sailors out diving. Tied up to a ball next to this nice 1986 Pearson.

I think Ken may have simply been finding a creative way to point out that he was really smoking along yesterday. I love that feeling! :)

I think we all love that feeling, but I keep seeing folks complaining about their water being frozen. I just wanted to hear some people enjoying the softer water. D

on't get me wrong, I also enjoy snow shoeing and cross country skiing. I just prefer to see the snow remain in the mountains where it belongs.

We never actually sailed in water you can swim in without thermal protection.

If you ever get down here, we'll go sailing. Spring and fall are the best. This last Saturday, Air temp was 83° with a heat index of 87°. Water temp was about 74-76°F.

During the hot and humid months of summer, water temperatures average a warm 86° F. The ocean is like bath water, you are sweating while in the water.

Thanks, That's a very nice offer.
I think our next trip will be to New Zealand to attend our youngest girl's wedding. (I know she isn't really a girl anymore. Not sure how that happened so soon.)
