Last weekend we brought Egret home. She is a 25 yo 26S in fair shape, but, naturally there will be a long list of small repairs to do. The aft locker has a waterline mark because at one point it must have flooded. Judging from the fact that the cockpit drain hose just fell off when I touched it I presume that precipitation must have been collected in the cockpit and drained into the locker while the boat was on the dry. There are no leaks in the hull.
The second issue, always in the locker is the absolutely idiotic way the ladder was installed. The PO spread the load of the bolts using steel electrical outlet covers as washers. I intend to reinforce that part of the transom by epoxying a half inch plywood board and running the bolts through it. This will make the transom stiffer and the ladder will not try to force the hull whenever we use it.

Lots of other stuff but nothing that bit of mascara and lipstick can't fix... She is an elderly lady after all :)

Not terribly uncommon. Earlier in this thread I showed my solution to that issue, and others chimed in with theirs.

Re lettered my boat. Going to use black bottom paint this year. We'll see how it looks. I am about 3 weeks from splashing. Maybe may 1

Also mounted my new radio. Still have work to do. My new ST2000+ should be here this week. Radio, Garmin and autopilot will all be tied together.

I just put about 2000 miles on this "rig" getting 29.6 mpg (trailer/boat are only about 500 pounds). There is even a 2.5 hp Suzuki outboard in the trunk.

I have a 1993 MacGregor 19, but wasnt happy with the large heavy hatch. My wife found it cumbersome to open and close and it blocked my view from the helm when it was open. I made this one myself with a flip open design and hinge, which means that most of the time we dont need to lift it up. Works really well. If you look at the pictures carefully you will note that I have to rout the underside for dripping rain into the channel and i also added non-slip strips into the varnish using non-slip compound.

Is it going to be tight enough to keep rain out at the hinge point?
I added some weatherproof stripping at the hinge point which works well to keep rain out. I kept the original hatch which I leave on when the boat is not in use.go

I've not had much luck with glued together boards outdoors. They tend to shrink at different rates and open up at the seams. How did you join them?

A little off topic even for this thread (although at least there is a lake in one of the pictures)

My avatar says South Park - because I spend a fair amount of time in South Park and it’s a beautiful area in Colorado.

Last night I "tried" to watch the TV show South Park and like usual, it moves too fast and my focus quickly drifts to other things (like the laptop/internet I had sitting in front of me while attempting to watch TV).

Anyhow.. there is a little town Lake George in Park County (about 35 miles from Fairplay) and when the big recession hit in 2008, it seems that when a business went under, the building turned into a church.

Now 7 years later, a new business just showed up in Lake George "Granny's Hash" (the pictures are from last weekend). Just another episode in the real South Park..

Russculling, it also appears that your boat may be laying on it's side. It probably won't float too well that way. However, i'm also very interested in the method you use for keeping the hatch on when the boat is on it's side! I need some of whatever it is you use! ;)

Today, I motored back over from Marina Fonatur to Safe Marina and hauled her out.

It was blowin' like snot for three days, and I didn't put out of the harbor once.

Did complete an outhaul for the main though.
