So I get my copy of Cruising World for April. I glance in passing and think to myself: "Huh, they sent me two copies..."

Just now sitting down to read I grab my Cruising World from on top of SAIL. Hah hah....

Not sure if this is intentional or April Fools or purely chance but both magazines feature the same boat in their covers... Morris 48... Same boat, same background, same tack...

Too funny

Do you get good old boat and if so what magazine is your favourite of the three?

But obviously not the same photograph. Those were clearly taken at least 1/4 second apart. ;-)

Oh boy, I'm sure budgets are down and they use more builder-supplied and stock photos now, but two editors are getting nastygrams from their publishers, for sure.

Were the reviews the same too? I guess Morris was the only company buying a good review this month.

Actually the boat on Cruising World is picking up a lobster dinner just after the picture was taken. ;D

Standard fare throughout most industries. You'll find this in car, truck, motorcycle, ATV, boats, etc etc

I used to shoot Dealer Library for several auto manufacturers. Very nice 35mm motion work made available to dealers and others worldwide. I also shot VNRs, Video News Releases or EPK, Electronic Press Kits. Both of those were a step down in quality from Dealer Library but were still well done stock clips for use by news organizations. I still occasionally see clips I shot 20 years ago of the first minivan when news reports come around talking historical background. A lot of what you see on network news is EPK or VNR footage. They might tag it as 'file' footage.

At the press preview days of all the major auto shows, credentialed press are given dvd or thumbdrives with large catalogs of still photography as well as video.

What is very interesting is that both editors chose those same photos for the same issue for the cover shot. Those 2 media groups compete head to head so conspiracy would be way out in left field.
