As some of you know, I moved back home to the mountains of Virginia. Every morning aside from the deep snows recently that isolated me on this mountain with a quarter mile steep driveway, attached you will find various views either from the front or back porch every day. The evening skies are even beautiful as I can see the full Heaven. Enjoy.

Really nice Dave. Is there sailing nearby? It looks like there could also be some local hiking.

Ken;

Smith Mountain Lake where I first started is 1 1/2 hours away. The Appalachian Trail is nearby along with a lot of other trails not to mention ski slopes and so on. Even within an hour is a gambling casino at the Greenbriar which for years had a hidden underground hotel for Congress in the event of an atomic war and they had to escape to this neck of the woods. As for being a train buff, well, I listen to the trains down below of the CSX line laid in the 1800's by my great great grandfather. As for the beginning of the James River in Virginia, down below us as well.

Nothing's too good for Uncle Crazy. I honestly believe he deserves all the good that ever comes to him. And I'll be coming to visit as soon as I can!

Chuckwayne;

Hopefully you got my email with updated contact information. Anyway, I believe the two of us have had enough snow this year. I know you built many a snowmen.

Around the corner from me is Goshen Pass where I grew up on tubing, fishing, hiking and swimming. As a small kid, Mom bought me a small sailboat to float on the river. Didn't last too long when hitting the rocks. Back then I was not much of a sailor. The other picture is from a friend and when I got it, I laughed so hard. He sent me a picture which hangs in my home. You will see a sailboat, tractor (been using one I bought recently learning and that is another story) and a model train (I am in N scale model trains)

Enjoy

Hey Dave!

You must not be too far from the Cass--what a great train ride in the fall.

Enjoy the new digs!

Dan;

Once I was taking photos of the train leaving and I forgot that was the train I was to ride on. My daughter embarrassed got the train to stop so Dad could waddle up and catch that that train. If you ever go back to it, feel free to stay with us. I would go with you. Not sure which trip you took either the 3 or 5 hour trip but if you do go back, cell phones do not work due to tower signals that would interfere with that little dish belonging to Greenbank Radio telescope. That little dish weighs more than me, 16,000,000 lbs...It is the largest of its kind in the world just below Cass Railroad.

Great view and great pictures Dave ! Though if you think about it, if it wasn't for those mountains you might even see the ocean :D. Congrats on finally fulfilling the dreams of going back home !

Thanks Claude.

Over the mountain I use to own a 2000 acre farm and even Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson came there. I have 340 degree view of the mountains and I over look the beginning of the James River and can see the railroad down below with the original tracks laid by family in the 1800's. We plan to open the home to campus crusades, young life and so on. Every morning I wake up and see a different sight. Oh the full moon when close is exceptional beautiful up in the dark sky. So much for my Sermon on the Mount for today Mr. Ron!

quack quack on my phone which drives the better half nuts with me running for them thar hills.

Dave when they visited you what did you feed them :D and did you sell them a hunter
You beat me to it, Woodster! Great minds think alike. But you're clearly the better salesman. Selling them a Hunter was a master stroke!
