Hunter 290 -Table modifications??

I have a Hunter 290. The main cabin table is very awkward and takes up a huge amount of space. We really don't use it.

Has anyone modified to a smaller table or even removed it?

It's been a while 2006 when I last sailed my 290 but I think I did
raise it up to the ceiling out of the way and did think about making it smaller
or just make a whole new smaller table,
My now 2007 H-36 table is also big too but when we have other sailors
come play cards it does just fine so for now doing nothing but on my H-36
I think of some way to have folding leafs maybe by a wood work shop.

We did that on our '83 H31. Took out the old table and bought a solid oak coffee table at a flea market for about $15.00-$20.00. We took the legs off the table and used the old table to get proper angel where the table buts up against the starboard side. We used some of the wood from the cut part of the table to make a matching fiddle. The new table is significantly narrower than the original and is much easier to get in and out of. We used the same hardware and everything. It is a significant improvement.

Java did it

If you go to Java Jim seaman's web page he did a whole new
table on his 356 and a lot more mods.
