My heel gauge was on the bottom of the compass. I put a piece of electrical tape over the white marks until I figured out that I could jsut use a black Sharpe marker on the white marks.
If your compass is white you'll need a white paint marker.

Apparently I'm not as smart as I thought. :)

Brought the boat home from covered storage a couple of weeks ago because the weather had been so good. I just finished sweeping/cleaning 5" of snow off of it. glad we're getting the snow, but the timing is not bueno.

Which High Desert do you get 5" of snow? They call this the High Desert too and I haven't seen snow for two years and then it was only a couple of inches. Before that it had probably been 10 years.

I did this "for" my Mac today. Picked it up for $650. It'll need some new bunks, lights, and winch... but it tracks straight, it's got no "real" rust, 2 solid axles and working surge brakes...
More to come from my work on it

Nice! Wilsnow, are you still moving to Seatle?

I took this picture today in Colorado.. really fine day!

I ran that little 2.5 hp outboard at 1/2 throttle until it ran out of gas. Went for 1 hour and 22 minutes doing about 5.7 knots. Works out to about 34.6 mpg.

I am initially very pleased with this trailer. I've already put on the new belt-winch and safety chains. Got some lights and other stuff yet to install (Harbor Freight is downright dangerous) and the bunk brackets are on order... Considering the trailer my boat came on lost a wheel on I-80 on my first day of ownership, this one is just incredible! (previous owner let it sit for 3 years. I greased up the bearings, but it obviously did no good. Bearings melted right out of it and when I saw smoke in my side view mirror, started slowing and pulling over to the shoulder. Wheel came off as soon I hit gravel. Had a new hub welded to the axle on the side of the interstate for $300... Welcome to boat ownership, I guess)

Yeah, Walt, I am moving up right after the ski season ends here in Park City. My fiance, Mia, is already up there with her new job. I've already plotted out a week trip to the San Juans and several weekend trips to cool harbors around the Puget Sound.

Any of you guys thinking of going up for the Mac owners rendezvous????

When and where is this?

I am scheming on two trips to the San Juan’s. I think the Mac will be really fun up there, going to all the different harbors, getting a slip every other night, being on the hook every other night. I have never been there but the marina deal looks fairly easy to do. A video I was watching from about 10 years ago showed the slips anywhere from .5 to $1 per foot per night and many have coin operated showers.

However.. this September I am thinking about taking the Hobie TI up there (just my wife and I) and stay in Friday Harbor and day sail out of Friday Harbor. This somewhat requires car topping the TI which is definitely a challenge. This is part of the reason I was testing that 2.5 hp outboard. I motored about 9 miles, then pedal sailed back. Doing the same sort of thing in the San Juan’s would allow you to see a bunch of the islands.

I picked Sept because that is when Im 59.5.. told my employer I was going to take a month off then and spend the next winter in Arizona.. (hope to still sort of have a job after lol..). I also picked Sept because I understand the crowds are way down.

The next year, I’m going to bring the Mac back up there.

Got my Ancor SPDT switch yesterday. I'll be able to finish up my anchor light addition. The new switch will replace the original 'Mast' switch. I will be able to flip from 'anchor' to 'steaming'or just leave them both off.
Given the limited amount of space at the bottom of the switch panel, do you think those label names are appropriate? 'Mast' will remain, but below the switch I want to label the positions.

Most have showers.
We used to do "two out, one in" but that usually went by the wayside once we got to visiting with people who were also just hanging out.
There are a ton of cool places to go.

I'd consider that appropriate, but then, the only person you have to satisfy is you. ;)

:cussing:I bolted a portapotti in my boat the other day, after removing house carpet (!!!) And it's poorly adhesed foam padding from the head area of my boat. That's about all the weather has allowed. Still need to rebed most of my deck fittings & deadlights, & patch a hole I put in the deck. And put in an entire electrical system...

Lol, 1/4" padding under the carpet. Kind of like a glued down mouse pad. Fortunately for me the kid that did it didn't use a stout adhesive. The foam disintegrated, & the glue came up with "oops" & a nylon brush.

Nice! Be glad it's a Mac 25.
I think the worst is removing the foam blocks under the cockpit and crawling through the lazarette to do much of anything down there.
