Hunter 1990 Hunter 35.5 Toronto
Hi I am looking to replace the prop on a 1990 Hunter 35.5 that I just purchased and I saw an
add in the gear adds for a feathering prop. Does anyone know if this prop would fit this boat.

Max-Prop 2 blades feathering 16" propeller
Max-Prop feathering propeller, 2 blades, 16", right hand turn, for a 1" shaft., was on a Hunter 34 for 5-6 seasons, in clear water only (Leake Champlain, NY). Instructions included. Max-Prop is the ideal propeller for cruising/racing sailboats. It is strong, efficient, powerfull ahead and equally astern, reduces propwalk, brakes the boat in no time. Blades feather for minimum drag under sail and 180° rotation of blades offers superior performance in reverse.

Thanks Floyd

Floyd,
Call the manufacturer and ask them. This is a good opportunity to start a relationship with them. If they are not helpful, then you don't want to have to deal with them when you need help offshore in a foreign land with an emergency.

PYI has a very good service org. Call them with the boat model, engine and transmission. They'll give you the size and pitch recommendation for the prop.

Have used a max-prop for 10 years and love it. Increased speed under sail and great in reverse.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to go visit the boat this weekend and I get the info off it
I definitely want to increase the performance right away if I can

Kiwi prop

I believe 3 blade will suit you better
Max prop is great.
But imperative to match to engine & gearbox
I have a 3 blade Kiwi prop. It is much cheaper and very efficient. Reverse has almost identical thrust as forward. It is simple in design and can be adjusted easily. If the blades get damaged they can be replaced for a reasonable price. The feathering design works well for illiminating drag. My boat is a 35.5 and I used my kiwi for three years without issues. By the way the dollar exchange rate is in our favor for a better price against New Zealand's dollar.

I also have a Kiwi prop and has performed well for 6 years. Bought it for a h-356 but put it on our new H-38 in 2008. Cost was right, backing is very good but I still have prop walk in both forward and reverse.

Check out Flex o Fold and I have had my 3 blade since 2008
on my 2007 H-36 and love it and just keep it clean that all I ever do.
