2002 Hunter 450 has a Whitlock steering system, it mounts a DU-120 drive which appears to be a Simrad product that was used on the Whitlock Mamba. Will that drive work on other Autopilots? I wanted to install a Raymarine EV-400. Was that a common set up on Hunters?
The drive on the Mamba is a Whitlock design, since taken over by Lewmar.
Essentially, all electric drives are the same:
There is a DC motor & DC clutch
The Raymarine will be fine with this
I have the X30 pilot, Mamba steering, and whitlock / lewmar motor.
Works perfectly.
