Rogue MPT-2024 Interface Problems?

Hi All.

Has anyone with one of these had problems getting it to interface with their laptop?

I have the black box and serial to usb cable supplied with the controller, and I've tried to install the driver from the supplied minidisc, but all the drivers on the disc seem to be for Vista. Since my laptop runs Win 8 and has USB2, I can't get it to work.

Has anyone been faced with the same dilemma, and how did you come up with a workaround?

•RS232C serial (COM) port or USB port
•Rogue DCV-0001 data converter

Looks like they supply win 7 drivers and they will work in win 8

No. I did however talk to someone at the company and he suggested I buy a different serial to usb cable. I'll try the web download first. Went to the website and can't find any drivers there. I've already downloaded the PowerNet utility from their site. It recognizes the MPT-2024 on COM 4, but says there's a problem. "No response from the controller. Is it powered up and connected to the computer?"

I don't know what usb-RS232 cable you are using but you might want to try these drivers. No guarantee!

None of those drivers worked either. They don't show up in device manager. I guess I'll try a new cable next.

I would try a new cable. I had a problem very similar with a PentaMetric data logger that I drove myself nuts over. It turned out to be a bad USB cable.... Burned about 4 hours updating drivers, re-installing software etc. etc....

Yeah, that's the next step. It's weird.... I uninstall the driver that came with the device, so I can try the drivers joker460 suggested, but every time I plug the usb cable in, device manager shows the original driver that I just uninstalled. Makes me think the driver is part of the firmware. Also, odd is that when I click connect it sees the MPT-2024' but then a few seconds later I get the error message that asks if the controller is connected and powered up.

Just a quick update...

I bought a new serial/usb cable and everything works just great.
