Where do you buy electrical cable and wire for your boat?

I am having a hard time locating cable for use on my boat. I can find primary and duplex marine cable, equivalent to what you would have inside the walls in your house. I am looking for cable that is meant to be outside in the elements, for running power to a fixture for example, like the black one below: image-2129775923.jpg What would you call this? Marine outdoor duplex cable 20awg? Something else? These are waterproof, uv proof, corrosion proof, with two conductors inside, very pliable, and fairly thin (<5A). Don't care about the inside colors (I would still use if it wasn't yellow & red), but would need it to be a black jacket. It seems someone like Belden makes what I need and that this is a fairly obvious/common cable. I am looking for a pointer, a catalog, an online retailer, a manufacturer or a search key word that I may be missing.

If you can't find what you are looking for right here in the 'store' tab, I'm sure they can get it for you at a competitive price.

For that distance it may just be rubber tubing with standard two conductor cabling pushed through.

I have purchased from Greg's Marine Wire Supply (online). When I was installing a windlass, I purchased cable from them as well as duplex wire. Their prices are good and shipment is quick. Check out their website. If you don't see what you are looking for, give them a call.

Pacer Group in Florida (pacer.com). They manufacture all types of marine wire and cable, but also sell retail through their web site. They are the OEM supplier for Catalina Yachts.

Ditto. I use Ancor heat shrink connectors as well. Kinda pricey though.

PS: does anyone have a source for outdoor spiral wrap for wire bundles?

Check ebay as well. I saved a ton by buying wire and connectors off of ebay. Just be sure you know what you are getting and that it is good stuff.

If you are going to wire use the right stuff and the right connectors. The non-marine stuff will work....for a while....who knows when it gives out....but it will probably be when you need it the most! If you do it right the first time you won't have to do it again also.

One other thing came to mind.

If you are taking the trouble to do it right, do yourself a favor and buy nice tools as well. I made an electrical tool kit (you can search and find contents on here). It made the job go so much better and my results look professional. Not quite Mainesail good, but close ;).

Also, Mainesail posted a really good idea about labeling your wiring: http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/wire_labeling
This was a great idea and I am using it. It makes sense to do this and it will help out in the future.

For pigtails for navlights & such I use a black mil-spec UV stable dual walled heat shrink over the marine duplex wire. This also helps where the pigtail enters a stanchion or push pit for chafe resistance.
