Selden Bowsprit

We are contemplating installing a Selden Bowsprit on our Hunter 260 to handle an asymetric spinnakar. Have any of you done such an installation? My main concern is securing the installation bracket for the bowsprit strongly enough to ensure no damage is done to the foredeck.

Thanks,

Done, sort of. Used the Selden ring on the C270 and made my own pole. Much cheaper, and better looking too.
The post is titled "sprit city" on the Wordpress blog below.

I've gone one step further, building a top down furler for the kite. A much better way to deal with it.

I made a bowsprit for my 340, I probably have less than a hundred bucks in it. It is easily removed and I did not drill any holes in the deck to mount it. We fly our code 0 almost every time we sail and the wind is under 15 knots.
Check my profile for photos or search the forum for "no drill bowsprit".

Hunter 260???

Thanks for the responses from larger Hunter and Catalina owners. What about bowsprit installations on Hunter 26 / Hunter 260s? Last summer - when leaving Elk Rapids - on the way to Northport - was shadowed by a nice looking H-260 flying an asymetrical spinnakar. I could not tell if it had a bow sprit however.

I looked at numerous online pics of the Hunter 260... Are you planning on using a code 0 furler? Or just a tack line. Do you have a headsail furler now?

The sprit doesn't necessarily have to be inline with the boat. I would think with the proper backing plate that the ring could be mounted just to the aft and side of the jib furler.

We'll be purchasing the roller furler mechanism (as well as the bow sprit) from Selden. From looking at the photos from this thread and others ... I'm thinking that I might secure the forward bracket supporting the bowsprit to my recently installed DELTA Anchor Roller.

The ring can mount almost anywhere. attaching it to the anchor roller mount is a good idea, although, don't be afraid to get a bracket made if needed. I went through 4 designs in trusty cardboard to be sure that it would fit.
