You have seven seas worth of water. Cool in hot out. No heat exchanger, just cool water. I just like to mention that Jersey speed skiffs started as 16 foot row boats, went to sail then motor, and now they race them at over 80 mph. Garveys are under 20 feet I think, started as clam boats and are now raced at over 70 mph. Maybe we are at the beginning of the next big fad. LOL

There are plenty of places with Gas and Diesel at the docks in the Cheseapeake and up and down the AICW....but there are gaps too. So you have to do some planning and/or carry some jerry cans w/spare fuel. ARe gpoing to be the first person to pull a water skiier behind a sailboat on the Pearl River?

That only counts if you are under sail only. I remember my sailing instructor talking about pulling a skier behind a Thistle. They actually pulled the skier out of the water and up on plane. I think that is my ultimate goal with my boat.

Sounds to me like the OP isn't much interested in actually sailing.

Putting a V8 in a sailboat is something akin to putting a V8 in a Conestoga wagon and leaving the horses in the barn.

Nope... he just wanted to know if he could buy gas easily at most marinas..... another obvious question....

It is actually documented in a very old ThistleClass newsletter. I was told the skier weighed 110 lbs.

I have done it with a Hobie 18 (Maybe a Prindle) but the skier was about 5' nothing and 90# wearing jump skis. First couple of times she got up behind a 14' Whaler and they passed the line to us then when she was convinced it would work she let us drag her until she finally popped herself up.

Mythbusters towed Jamie Hyneman behind an 8 man rowing shell.

I know of other catamarans that tow skiers successfully.
