All,
I am looking at replacing my bimini top this winter (canvas only) and after looking at several vendors, I seem to be able to get the best canvas only deal from Copy Covers. I send them my canvas and they make a cover using mine as the pattern so it matches my current cover.
Has anybody delt with Copy Cover - they are the custom sewing shop for Ameri-Brands Products Inc which seems to have started as a pool company. They seem to do all kinds of boat canvas and other covers.

Thanks!!

Seams like a good idea but I would ask how they compensate for an old bimini that may have shrunk. Most older canvas has shrunk or stretched some what. If just a bimini with no attachemnts (i.e. connector to dodger) may not be a problem. Just a question I would ask unless your current bimini is the exact correct size.
No knowledge of this company but maybe you could keep us posted if you decide to have them do your work

I don't see why not. They have a detailed quote request doc with info on how to take measurements. Dave from SBO was very helpful. The actual supplier is from FLA and does excellent work.

We don't offer canvas replacement, unless it is our frame to begin with; stretch just makes it impossible to build a replacement, the fit is not good I'd say about 40% of the time. Our h34 rail mount bimini is $1295, about half of what you would pay to have someone come down to the boat. If you have a local canvas worker, it's cost effective, usually, to have them come to the boat and fit a new canvas to your existing frame. Our h34 bimini is one of our best designs, actually designed by a customer, we've sold over 50 to date:

I will call Copy Covers and talk to them regarding my cover. I have solicited several quotes from local shops, and would like to find out how they compare. Anyone who has used them, let us know how your top turned out.

check out. Hardtotop.com. they will make you a top you can install yourself over your existing bimininframe. Check out site and request a free sample they look pretty nice. My price was $850 with free shipping. My canvas is almost done the frame still looks like the day I got it 4 yrs ago. I think next year I might go with them,I really don't want to spend bucks for canvas. Mine was quite large, I don,t have measure here at home but if memory serves me it was like. 65" wide X. 75" long. I will check exact size when I get to work later..Red

I need my Dodger replaced. Do you think he can handle that? The price I got from some local shops here is real high.

I had Brad Linthicum make a replacement bimini from the worn out original. Approx 7' x 8', lots of zippers for existing side panels and dodger windows. I left him the frame and the parts not being replaced. Everything fit and it was reasonable. I've used him for sail repairs as well.
He's near 295 & Rt 30 in New Jersey.

sure ..I assume he will need your existing Dodger to utilize as a template..honestly.. his prices will be a fraction of what you've gotten..so far I've had a make a main sail cover replaced Sunbrella on my Benny ,replace all the windows on the Dodger..and I'm about to drop off my Dinghy for him to make a cover for it..I see you live in Toms River , the guy lives in Hazlet ..the only thing I can say is, he'll talk to your ear off though.. it takes me about an hour and a half to get out of there any time I'm picking up something.. cuz he'll just talk your ear off..but he really is a super nice guy though..

At copycovers.com we complete hundreds of covers each year for both the stinkpotter and sailboat markets. The copycover program has become a popular method of duplicating existing boat canvas especially for those who have non existent or unreliable local sources.
Apparently our pricing is pretty decent also as we receive projects from all over the US and Canada. The comments we receive are overwhelmingly positive. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

SR,

I NEVER liked canvas for my bimini. I've never liked Sunbrella type products, as they have weaknesses. They stretch, have poor wear-resistant properties & have to be waterproofed too often & they show dirt & mildew. For sail covers & sac strips, these are the best we got but, not so for bimini canvas.

I have been using a three layer waterproof material called Weblon the past 18 years. I first saw this used on sport fisherman boats as window covers. It has reinforced internal stitching that resists stretching. Easy to clean & 100% waterproof. Add some sealer once a year & I get 7-8 years life here in brutally sunny hot Florida.

As for sending your old top out, I wouldn't do it as the cover has distorted/stretched over time. Every bimini I see that was fitted this way I thought never really fit well. Pay the extra $$ to have a template done on your frame to insure a tight fit. Pick a local canvas maker so if there are modifications to be made, you have direct contact. This a just my opinion pal.

For anyone who might have been waiting to see how this went -- I ordered a replacement cover from CopyCovers and got it to the boat today. It fits like a glove and looks great. cost was 4/5 of others I was looking at online and even better compared to my local canvas shop. I will use them again.
A word of caution - call and talk to them about exactly what you want. They were not planning on recreating the bimini exactly the same as what I sent. They had planned to use Black thread and a black or white edging where mine is white thread and a blue binding, and I like it that way. They did however after I figured this out offer to do it in blue if I had the blue edge sent to them since they do not have it in stock. They reduced their estimate and I purchased the edging. They were very easy to work with and willing to do everything I wanted. You just need to walk them through what you want so you are both thinking the same thing.
