Has this been done before? Saw it recently on the Yachting and Boating World bulletin boards--

What are some often-simplistic 'myths', typically believed by too many people, that are, in practice, simply nowhere near true?

Allow me to start:

1. You can't navigate these days without GPS.
2. With modern technology, a first-time boat owner can easily handle a 45-plus-foot boat.
3. 'Sell the wife, sell the boat.'
4. I do not need VHF; I have a cellphone.
5. (my favorite) Hull speed is a finite limit on how fast the boat can move through the water; so, mathematically, the longer the boat, the faster it sails.

Have fun contributing your own!

That there is a 'perfect' boat for anyone, or any voyage...

The corollary is "What's the best boat for..."

I plan on launching her in 5 months. That's plenty of time to get everything done.
