What tool is required to remove the Raymarine multi-function c-series display from the pedestal pod on a Hunter 380? The fasteners appear to utilize a specialty tool to prevent theft.

When I need to pull mine I use the tool that came with it; the same that is mentioned above. I put it in a safe spot when I first got it.

Tool

I don't think the tool mentioned above works because it
the special screws have a extra piece in the middle to prevent
from using the tortex tool, what I used is a small flat screw driver
so small that it fits or wedges into one slot and than turn the screw out.

Nick, I stand to be corrected. The proper nomenclature is TT25 vice T25. However, the Home Depot Husky link supplied is accurate as an example of the tool needed. Here is a pic of a TT25 bit.

Yes

That is the tool but I was not able to find one
so did use a small flat screw driver at the time and
wish I had that tool.

Theft

I guess it was easy to get this tool more than I thought
it would be, and I guess if it was that easy than any one
could steal electronics and kind of defeats the purpose
of using these special screws.
I do know some one who got the tool with his new Raymarine
chartplotter but I did not and after doing so much work on
my electronics I changed to phillips screws.

Allen key with hole

What tool is required to remove the Raymarine multi-function c-series display from the pedestal pod on a Hunter 380? The fasteners appear to utilize a specialty tool to prevent theft.
It's from Navpod, and it's an Allen key with a center hole.
Basically can be obtained in lots of places, but Navpod would be the easiest.
The whole issue about stolen electronics from boats is sorta moot.
If somebody swipes your plotter, it's for 1 of 2 reasons:
To replace their own identical plotter
Or,
Try & get some dough from it.
If someone has their own plotter, it's awfully unlikely that they will be scouring marinas just to find an indentical unit.
Now, if someone tries to sell it, good luck.
You need a power cord, plus it's just a piece of marine gear which may or may not work. There isn't a big market for this, cause your average boater isn't going to cut holes in their boat on the off chance that the second hand plotter (or whatever) is going to work.
Look on ebay.
When something is sold, it will only get reasonable bids if the unit is:
Powered up
The seller has reasonable feedback.

THere have been isolated cases where someone goes to town, and strips a whole bunch of boats at once in a marina. But this isn't that common
One funny thing.. A few years ago raymarine had a "code lock" function on their instruments where they would lock up if you didn't enter the right code.
Well, sailors being sailors, tons of people forgot the codes, and tech support at raymarine had their hands very full.
They wisely dropped that feature.

My nav pod uses security torex screws. torex with a pin in the center. You can get a complete set of bits at Harbor freight for about 10 dollars. The security torex are becoming very common on autos, plumbing items, electronics, home appliances.

you can also just use a small - 1/8" - slot head screwdriver and wedge it into the screwhead - rotate and remove

I bought this entire set for $5.00 at O'Reilly Auto Parts (formerly Kragen's, formerly Grand Auto, etc., etc.) Its got them all for license plates, boat electronics and more.

I hope we haven't just given someone the keys to Fort Knox with all these helpful suggestions.
