Winch lube

I use Singer sewing machine oil on the pawls and springs. It is one of the finest light oils out there. It won't dry or thicken like 3in1. It is available all over the place AND is inexpensive.
What about gun oil? I have plenty of Beretta and Remington here.

The below link* goes to the grease page of a winch manufacturer. Reading the description, wrong grease might be fatal. Wow. That's an extreme warning!

Not doing any winch maintenance might be a better option in comparison? (This comment made in obvious jest of course. Yes even I every so often dismantle, clean, and lubricate my winches.)

The tube pictured on the webpage self-describes the grease type as Multi-purpose Silicon Teflon grease.

It's a little hard to tell if you're taking Anderson's warning all that seriously, so, please forgive me, but :laugh:
