Is there a front end and back end for the exchanger core on a 2gm20f?

I didn't pay close attention when removing it, and now I see that one end has two holes in the sleeve, and the other end has only one hole. It would seem the side with one hole should be in the front, as it lines up with a port in the exchanger housing. The locating pins seem to line up ok. Any ideas?

There was a post about that not too long ago. Unfortunately I don't remember who posted it but a search in the archives should help you. In the mean time, perhaps the attached will help.

Thanks Claude,

I did search, but found only links to manuals like you posted. None are clear about the orientation. I guess it's not critcal.

I was at an engine maintenance seminar a few weeks ago and the Yanmar mechanic said it was important for the holes to be lined up with the hole in the housing for proper circulation. If I recall properly, apparently when the holes are lined up properly the locating lugs fall in place. As I said I have not had to do it myself so I cannot speak from experience. If you want I can stop at the Yanmar dealer not far from me on Tuesday to check with the mechanic that put on the seminar and get back to you. On another note, I'll be at the Marathon marina around the 21st or 22nd of january. perhaps we can get together for a cold one ?

Claude, thanks for the offer to check with your dealer, but there is a Yanmar dealer in town and I can check with him.

I'm here in Marathon, (Key Colony Beach, actually) for the winter, so if you would like to meet up for a beer, email me at: moosestang@comcast.net.
