Again, great information. Really appreciate the photos! Have only had the boat a few months but are trying to plan for the coming summer and a dinghy is a must for our future gunk holing adventure! If anyone has any other ideas, please do not hesitate to throw in.

Re: Ocean Marine

Nick,
Good advice. I will keep all in mind when I pursue my davits.

Bob,
Why did you remove the swim platform shower?

Could someone help me to find the photos in a profile on this app. Obviously not very app smart.

By removing the panel for the swim platform shower I could reach into the area where the bolts are on the bottom of the starboard davit, otherwise it is hard to get at them with the holding tank in that starboard locker.

Sounds like sailors hear want to see your photo album but can't and I can't either when going to your photo album it goes to web site maker.
Any way also I think Ocean marine has different heavy duty models and many add on options like the single pole or double pole for different types of boats
and different weight carrying for the dinghy.

Dinghy

To me to buy a dinghy and motor and than davits is a big $$$$$$,I did not
buy everything all at the same time and first got the dinghy and motor
and did tow around at first but I was not happy doing that and than started
using line to tie one side of dinghy to the 2 grab handles at steps and than
another line to pull it up and secure it side ways and that was pretty good for sure and was OK.
But cruising with a dozen other sailboats and anchoring out saw how nice it was
to have the dinghy ready with motor on and just drop the dinghy down and up at night at anchor was very nice for sure.
I did have weaver davits for a while and was great also made securing the dinghy to the stern was good also and a few friends still use the system for
many years and are happy and a lot cheaper than davits but still need to man
handle the motor off and on and even with my motor lift was OK.
Depends on your budget and how often your use the dinghy.
I have been told that Garhauer also makes great complete setup of Davits.

I figured out how to access the pics from the app:

1. Click on your link above.
2. Press and hold the album photo.

Great shots. I envy your fridge/ice maker setup. Mine has a standard mini-fridge under the countertop and a mini-freezer under the nav station. The front loading doors are just not very practical.

Sounds like you really enjoy the generator. Do you miss the storage?

Nick, some good points on the different models. I think they are almost a custom product.

I think there is problem trying to look at photo albums using the Sailboatowners app. I don't see them on my profile using the app on my iPad. I can see it on the iPad using a browser.
The links for the albums are here,

Let me know if these do not work.

Very nice pictures for sure and our boats are very similar with our front load ref
which my wife prefers, I guess her short legs made it hard but what we do is use the vee berth for storage and our portable 12/110 freez or ref and my 2 solar panels off the arch over the bimini keep my batteries 4-6volt well charged and we really love our Fisher Panda 4200 as backup for AC and charging,we have a 2000 watt inverter/charger.
Where are your batteries, our's were in same as the Gen but I moved them to
under the starboard salon seats to better balance the boat.
I added a nice folding seat at the helm which my back really enjoy's,I did change all interior light bulb's to led and anchor light also.
I did not upgrade the alternator do to my solar and gen,my 3YM30 has the sea water cooling pump for the engine facing forward yanmar got smarter for sure.
My waste tank has never worked well and had dealer change the sender when new and I also cleaned the sender myself but still not accurate at all and do have a new system that tapes on outside waste tank with new gauge but have not changed yet,I can just open rear compartment and check it.
I can't get wife to go to Bahama's so all I can do is dream.

Yes these boats are brothers alright.

I like your solar panel setup and keep a copy of your pictures for reference. I have the frame made for solar to go above the bimini and intend to install one 325W panel this winter.

I kept two batteries in the original box in the cockpit locker. The other three are under the aft berth on the starboard side. They are all AGMs so pretty much maintenance free. That was the idea of the 140 A alternator, it can bring the AGMs up quite quickly. I think it was a good idea to move the batteries to starboard side, it helps to trim the boat with the generator to port. I try to keep all the heavy stuff on the starboard side, it works !

We did the LED bulb conversion as well. We typically use about 125 AHr per day at anchor. It is mostly the fridge and freezer. I think with our 400 AHr bank and 325W solar panel we should be able to go a couple of days without running the generator or engine. We do tend to run the generator once or twice a day for short period.

Our waste and water tanks came with the scat tank monitor using the copper tape sensors from Hunter. All still work well. They used a submersable sender in the fuel tank and it has never worked, I'm looking at putting a fuel VDO gauge at the helm.

I noticed your folding helm seat. I like that idea. I've looked at several not sure what to buy, how to make it easily removable and where I would store it.

One thing about a boat is we never run out of projects for it.

We like the generator.,quite quiet .It came with the boat. I would not spend the money on one. We used a Honda EU2000 before and I would just use one of those. We only use the boat in the winter so air conditioning is not a priority for us. If I lived in Florida then a diesel generator would make a lot of sense.

I find the boat has plenty of storage. Even with guests on board we have unused space. And I carry a lot of tools and spares.

We provision the boat for about 2 months and still have room for more. The freezer has 20 lbs of ice in the bottom to take up some space. We filled up the rest with frozen food. We did our cruise to the Bahamas last winter and came back with food in the freezer !

Re: Dinghy

I think you have the right approach. Get what you need first and then think through whether you should improve on the original basic design.

I will have to post some photo's of my seat install and can use most any
type seat with 4 screws that mount the seat.
I went with a small seat that fold's and fits in our large cockpit locker.
I put a plate in between the fold down step and did take it apart and have to
do some grinding away to get it to fit and flat, the first one was stainless but it rusted and replaced it with one that was aluminum.

I have Ocean Marine davits and love them.
I do have the complete Weaver davit system if you interested and planning
to put for sale here Hunter forum.
They swing up side ways off the stern of the boat.

Got some pictures? How much?

Thanks for posting these Nick, I'm inspired now. This is just the thing for the ICW when you can have hours of motoring and can't use the autopilot. I think I'll keep my eye out for a seat and some of your hardware.
You should think about uploading that and your solar panel project onto an album on your profile ?
