Where to get a custom winter cover made?

Ahoy,

I am in the process of covering my 1979 H30 for the winter once again. I want to have a custom cover made for next year. I store with the mast up usually. Does anyone have experience with having a custom cover made, recommendations on a canvas shop and lastly, cost?

Take a look at the owner mods for our boat on this site-30' 74-83 at the cover I made for our boat year and length. It has been in use for many years now and I am ready to re-do the system tomorrow. You can get all the materials at Griffin Greenhouse which has a branch in Syracuse. I take it you have a perforated toe rail. The greenhouse film is available in white and clear. Make sure you use greenhouse film for the UV content. Do not cover your stations as a snow load may collapse them. Cut around the standing rigging and stations. If you go this direction, send me an E and I will give you the finer points to this method.

Since you are just across the pond, you may want to look at Quinte Canvas (Top Shop) http://www.topshop.on.ca/winter-storage.html. They supply many winter covers for boats in our Club.

I had it made by Kinder Industries in the states when I purchased the boat. They have patterns for a variety of boats and the cover is very well made and fits like a glove. We get heavy snow in my area and this cover sheds it nicely.

Google Klover Klamps. They have a system whereby you make the frame with their kit and they also supply the tarp if needed. System if quite straight forward and solid. Less than 1/2 price of full custom made cover.
