Oday 23 surprise

With ideas from Francis and Scott on eagles wings I went to the boat I am considering buying to evaluate what I thought was leaks at the bow pulpit backing plates and nuts. To my surprise The anchor locker drain hole on the bow near the eye had a small plug in it. In pulling the plug, there was no hose attached from the anchor locker. The water which was in the bilge and I thought came from the pulpit nuts, was draining through the anchor locker drain hose . The water went behind the hull liner and subsequently into the bilge. Good to know the problem wasn't pulpit nuts. The help I need is can some skipper tell me what small thru hull goes in the drain hole or what remedy you had for this problem. I can't imagine an owner plugging the drain hole and letting water run down the hull liner making wet liner and unhealthy condition. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Roger

The through hull is missing? If so, its an odd concoction, something I'm not sure you can purchase, but I recall someone here replaced one with 1/2 in. flared copper tubing. Not a huge deal, except you want to check that the leaking hasn't caused any damage to the bow eye backing.

I replaced mine with a plastic plumbing fitting. One that was sized to the hose that comes out of the anchor locker. I used J-B weld to permanately attach it in place.
As previously stated the wood that was glassed into the hull as backer to the D ring had completely rotted. I replaced with new wood and a couple layers of glass and resin and I have been good to go.

Thank you skippers for the info. Backing block for the bow eye is deteriorating. Will deal with both situations. Thanks Roger
