If I remember correctly, she was a quarter-tonner (unless it was the sister 25). Anyhow, it was one of the original west coast sport boats. I used to sail on one in Newport Beach and it was a blast. See this link:

Thanks for that Website. It was pretty informative. I like the boat but at a PHRF rating of around 220, I would be consistently near the back of our local fleet. I guess with a 18 foot water line you can expect only so much speed. I really like the trailer ability.

I used to have a Santana 20. Great boat, except mine had a short winged keel. With the oversized genoa from the po, it didn't point worth a damn. I see the one you're looking at has a deep fin. I'd have liked that better. Otherwise it was a good boat. Very light.

Are you looking at a 20 or a 200? Would the 200 be a new version? I didn't see it on the schock web site.

The Tuna 20 is a great little boat. Still a very active and competitive racing One Design fleet. Decent speed for how long she is. The current national champ is a friend of mine, if you have a particular question that you want answered, let me know.

Yeah, there a newer version with a new deck layout and open transom. The boat I'm noodling is the older one. Might be a good Wed pm boat or daysailer.

I was a Santana 20 dealer, and raced against them for years before that. PHRF 222 most places. The boats enjoy large fleets and often race one-design. They have been the boat selected for the Price-of Wales national match racing competition. Will sail way past their number by a skilled skipper/crew. SAIL IT FLAT! A fierce competitor in light air. Fin keel much quicker. A great deal of "refinements" and rigging know-how have been developed for this boat. Very racer-friendly design in deck layout.

The only drawbacks would be limited cruising space for more than an overnighter, and cockpit has no real seat-backs for leisurely sailing.

1350 pounds with a 550 pound keel, 8 foot beam is considered beamy for a 20' boat. Again - SAIL IT FLAT!
