Did not get any answers in the HUNTER BIG BOATS FORUM so I re-posted here

As I am preparing to haul/winterize my 1997 Hunter 340 in October, I contacted a marina I am interested in.

My keel is a shoal draft (4.6) winged keel and the owner wants to know the width of the winged keel.

Can anyone provide me with that information?

Thanks

Bill

I have winter 2 different Hunter in NY and never asked what the wing keel
size just depth,so don't know why they need that.
Hope you have good luck.

Maybe what length blocking material for under the keel?

Our yard uses a lot of foot-long 4x4 for most fins. They use longer ones for wing jobs.

I guess depending how the wing is on the keel, but both my hunters and now my
07 H-36 has very small wings and the blocking never touches the wings and just
have the wood blocks under keel and the keel really does the supporting of all the weight of boat.
The wings are not at the bottom of the keel and maybe 1' above the bottom
of the flat part of keel but don't know how it is on the 340.
I am just saying never heard them ask about the wings before

My h326 wing span is approx. 35". It's about 1" above keel bottom. Wing is located bias to stern of keel. Hope this help.

for wing keels, never place the blocks under the wings as the weight of the boat will turn them into flying wings. Place blocks direct under the keel portion only. I have seen that happen more than once but not at my dealership when in business as I was awaree of that.

Re: ?

The boat yard does not use a travel lift. It is a hydraulic lift. The lift is in the water, the boat is pulled into it and is lifted up.

The yard needed to know the width to make sure it would fit into the hydraulic lift opening.

BTW, the width of the 340 wing is 44 inches if any one needs to know.

My mooring provider measured it when he was cleaning my bottom.

Thanks for all your responses

Just make sure no blocks under the wings or they will fold up or break off . Blocks under the main part of the keel only.
