Heart inverter stopped working

I have a 14 year old heart interface freedom marine 20 inverter/charger.

Charger works fine. Inverter has stopped working. When turned on, I get a buzz for a second or 2, a click, nothing, then it continues to go through that cycle.

Has anyone had any luck getting these repaired. A new one is $1,500 or so.

Call Freedom customer service for a repair shop near you,I had mine repair
in Sarasota,Fl.
$500.00 and been running good it's 07 H-36 and yours maybe older and cheaper to repair and mine needed the relay on the big circuit board,mine had a outside fuse and internal fuse but were both were OK.
Nothing worked on mine and they said it the relay burnt out from too much off and on or too much surges from popping at marina and too late they replaced.

Had the same thing. Repair was about $600 in the SoCal area about five years ago. Same thing happened to me as you.

I would repair the old unit , I have a Spair if needed. I'm not happy with the replacement model from the same company.

We have a 14 yo Hunter 380 and the same Heart unit literally exploded in it's case on us. Incredible sound, but did no more damage than cleaning up burned wrapping under the setee.

Replaced it with a Xantrex 3000 for several reasons:

1. Direct drop in for the Heart unit.
2. The Interface in the nav station is more informative
3. We are adding a gen set in the spring and the gen interface is a plus....not sure about the solar we will add but I'll deal with that when we get to the coast.

Everyone has opinions...so flame away. Our Heart unit was great until it gave up, so I can't complain if I can get 14 years out of the Xantrex unit.

always worked fine
also have a generator
had been occasionally not working last month or 2, then stopped working completely
inverter light comes on and blinks at the remote, but no power
I can hear a buzz for a second or 2, then click and no buzz, second pause, then same cycle
charger still works fine

Loads?

run pretty low loads (battery charger, cell phone charger etc, vast majority of the time and very once and a while a small microwave
use the boat/inverter couple/few times a month with occasional week/month long trips

Any battery monitor readings?

batteries in good shape 12.5 v or so
inverter won't come on even when shore power is on and batteries at 13.5

If your going to replace recommend Magnum or Outback units.

update:

thanks for all of the replies.

* service centers said they no longer have 2 of the 3 boards, but I could send it in
* local marine electronics guy said he couldn't determine problem, called Xantrex who told him to ship it to them
* decided after 14 years, should go ahead and buy a new one

ordered a Magnum (2k watt, 100 amp) from Defender on sale for $920
