A long time back I mentioned that I changed my chart plotter mount from the swivel mounted high to a place that did not block my view as much... ix:

At last I remembered to take a photo of this very simple to build mount.

Not to hijack your thread but I saw the companionway doors. Did you make those or buy them?

Made them.

As you can see I can slip the entire outer frame out to put hatch boards in when needed. The screening is in place all the time, and there are removable panels on the inside for when I want to keep the water out. They are more of a bi-fold design in that rather then swing out to each side, everything swings to port to make it easier to get below.
