So we have been 2 boat owner past few years with Hunter 34' on West Coast (Seattle) and sistership in Palm Beach Florida-enjoy the split of both coasts. Having owned Beneteau Oceanis 461 in Palm Beach, thinking of going to Hunter 46 as a replacement in Palm Beach. Note only "Bluewater" it will see is Bahamas. I'm curious of y'all's input to gather pros and cons together for each 46' vessel to compare, knowing full well wrath of Gulfstream crossing. Looking for more info on comps addressing livability for weeks on end. Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about a Beneteau 46 but I have owned a H466 for 11 years and love it. Motoring, sailing, fwd cabin with separate head and shower is great. Large galley with four drawers and above counter dish storage is terrific. Many opening ports should help with ventilation. Shoal draft version draws 5'6", deep draft is 6'6". Livability in my book is superb. Have fun.

Thanks all-Mikem that Shoal Draft Version would be a major plus to Bahamas Cruising on our horizon. Having tough time transitting out of these mid-80's H-34's that I have owned since 1992. Family growing up-boy needs more space for his pals, and we tend to spend more time aboard at the comfort of the dock. This said, what is the shorepower to your vessel? Thanks.

The two aft cabins would be great for the younger ones. As the master is forward there is some separation too. 30 amp power. I think most of the east coast 460s are shoal draft to accommodate the Chesapeake, ICW and the Bahamas. Also those boats are plumbed for or have reverse cycle heat and air. Have fun.
