I want to remove the fabric from the walls of the v-birth in my 1980 H 37C and replace it with something that is finished like teak. I have been looking at PlasTeak and NuTeak. Has anyone used either of these products or anything similar that can share their experience with me? Also, does anyone know the dimentions of the walls in the v-birth. My boat is around 400 miles from my home so it is too far to drive to measure. Thanks, Jerry

If no one else has them quicker I will measure this weekend.

I used indoor/outdoor carpet and it has been good for 12 years. No issues with condensation behind or anything like that, easy install, nice to lean against, easy on the wallet.

That's a hilarious picture (when looked at closely). Who is "giving the finger"?

Trapped?

I think someone's trapped under the V-berth...

Hawk eyes, I was fooling around demonstrating to the admiral how big that space is by climbing into it.

You're lucky the Admiral wasn't upset with you that day. I would never put myself at risk like that. The Captain would probably epoxy me in.

Not my work, but gorgeous in real, finished wood.
Check archives here on a Hunter 30 rehab posted in the past 10 weeks.

ggrizzard, I really like the wood. Are there stringers behind that its screwed into or is glued directly?

I wouldn't trust someone else's dimensions....it will be a disaster. You need to measure YOUR boat. If you replace with carpet just cut a piece a little oversized for that area and trim with a knife to fit exact. I used bamboo panels. It's 1/2" wide bamboo strips glued to a canvas backing. It worked great on the walls since it bends to the contours. I did my whole v-berth in an afternoon with a measuring tape, utility knife, oscillating saw and about 4 tubes of Loctite Pro Line fast grab 8x. It's not going anywhere. The picture doesn't do it justice. It looks really great (my cushions suck though). The bamboo comes either 4 x 8 or 8 x 4. I used 8 x 4 in mine to go the full length. It comes in 4 different finishes. Mine is the carbonized bamboo. Not for everyone but just giving you an option. Very pleased with mine.

Were the shelves standard on the H30? They are not on the H37C and I always thought they would be a good idea. But on the other hand I do my night reading leaning back on the hull(still the original carpet :( ) and could not do that with the shelves there.

Ed - I added 10" wide shelves to both sides, primarily to stow my clothes. They work great!
I like those a lot Fred. Having trouble orienting though. What is that on the far end?

The right side of the photo is the forward part of the v-berth. Right now it's covered with a brown towel and waiting for the day when I finally figure out how best to finish it.

Ed, the shelves on the H 30 C V berth were original. The port side head bulkhead is plenty wide for back rest / reading.

But the hull sides have that nice curve, perfect for my back. :)

Well Ed, on mine I can use the quarter berth with that feature.
