Going on the sea trial for my 1999 H 260 wingk on saturday

Well we agreed on a price and have the sea trial set up for Saturday and if all looks well I will be motoring her home 80 miles the following weekend. We have decided no more than the boat cost and how basic this boat is we wouldn't have a survey performed but my only concern is the hull. Its in nice ville fl and had ablative paint put on when it came down from a fresh water lake a year ago. If it were to have blisters should I be able to feel them? I am going to pull it into a shallow area and clean the bottom with carpet so I can inspect the bottom as best I can with a mask and snorkel to see if I can see any irregularities. Anything else you can recommend?

The boat is pretty much immaculate so it's been taken really good care of. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

It looks like I will be traveling the 80 miles by myself when it comes time to bring her home. Friends don't want to go on a 14-16 hour boat ride. I'm gonna motor all the way since I will be going down the intercostal canal and my sailing experience is about 5 years old as well. Not to happy about going alone but it is what it is.

It was a pleasure talking with av8undunn about the boat. There is a lot he wants to do and will keep me posted on his work of the 260. Jeremy, great to have you on board. Both Kermit and you are tremendous to work with.

Kermit; Package on its way to you. Not sure if any of the parts can help. Some are for a z spar/ us spar mast. If you cannot use them, you know what to do. Share them.,

Which direction are you heading from Niceville?
Sorry for the late reply but I am heading toward orange beach. I finally found a coworker that's going to come along for the journey. He is actually pretty excited about the trip, I just hope the winds and current are on our side to make the trip in one day. Its definitely going to be a long day though.

It will be a long day but you will get to know the boat really well and bond with it.

I wasn't so tremendous before I got married. My First Mate's cooking has taken care of that. Went from 127 lbs. to 185 in less than a year!
Kermit;
Is there an available sister around, who can cook as well and like to sail. If, please send me a PM I would like to meet her.

Pay particular attention to the portion of the hull that would have been in contact with the trailer bunk boards.
While motoring, have a look for water ingress in the following areas:
a. where the compression post goes through the floor onto the keel mount, and
b. inside, back at the stern where the upper deck and hull seam is.
Good luck with the transit. Make sure you have a float plan.

Well the sea trial went well and we are the new owners. Hull was in great shape upon inspection and she will be making her way home to the wharf in orange beach AL in about two weeks. Can't wait to get her home and start adding my my own personal taste. After spending upwards of 15 hours on the voyage home, I should be able to come up with a new name for her. The wife likes "knot 2 fast" but I'm not sure.

Re: Going on the sea trial for my 1999 H 260 wingk on saturd

The weather isn't looking good to travel home this weekend, its 80-90% chance of rain all weekend between niceville FL and orange beach AL. One things for sure, there wouldn't be any boat traffic. Just me and the barges.
