Checking to see if there's a need for those who may have broken there decanter and now discover there is no replacement for it. I'm looking at having some stainless steel ones made if there’s enough interest for them. Probably not cheap $80 - $100 but that’s not bad in boat units and you can't break it!

Something of interest

I have the kenmore brew n wave unit on my boat.
Being an extreme Coffee addict, I love the built in coffee maker.
The first year I had the boat, I was wAshing the coffee pot, and it literally cracked in my hands for no reason.
So, I called my best friend , Eddie Breeden.
I didn't expect this to be warranty...I just wanted to buy ain't get from hunter.
Well, the problem was that Sears was charging $90 for replacement carafes.
And when an owner called Hunter, they got royally pissed if hunter even turned it around at their cost. This was a no-win for them, so they just told people to call Sears direct; which I did.
Well, when I called, they had 3 left, and that was it.
So, I held my nose & bought them.
I needed 1 right away, and figured the 2 spares would last until my doctor told me to stop drinking coffee.
I then figured that if anything went wrong with the microwave itself, I'd be up a creek. So... To add to my basement full of spares I snagged a brand new kenmore microwave.
So, I'm all set for awhile. Only cost me about about $500 or so for a crummy coffee carafe solution, but it's a boat; and we all know about the hole in the water you throw money into.

Ok.. So here is a bizarre story

The lg carafe is the same, and equally impossible to come by.
Ok everyone, gather around the campfire for a really bizarre boat story.
I mentioned in my post that I bought a spare microwave.
Well, actually ,,, I bought 2.
Here's what happened with my first spare.

I was cruising ebay, and saw a new condition kenmore brew wave microwave (no pot), for sale.
It was listed for 40 bucks with a buy it now, and I snagged it.
Yippee !
So, I contacted the seller (let's imagine her name is Cecilia), and asked, how much to ship to Toronto ??
She told me she was incapable of doing this, and had no idea how to fill out forms, etc.
Well, as luck would have it, she was in Florida.
So, I asked, "can you ship it somewhere in Florida?"
No problem, said Cecilia
But, she said she had no idea how to list the shipping charges on ebay, and asked me to just send her the dough (which I did)
I gave her the name and address of my friend in Florida who was going to re-ship it to me. I then asked her to make sure she boxed it well, wrapped the glass turntable in bubble wrap, etc.
She told me it was boxed to perfection, etc.
I sent her a bunch of dough, and asked her to send me the tracking number once it shipped.
So I waited a day or 2, and then sent her a pleasant email.
"Hey Cecilia, can I have the tracking number?"
No response.
Emailed her again..... Four times
Zippo.
So, I found her phone number, and left a message on her voice mail.
Nothing..
So, I left another one. And another one.
Dead end.
And then I heard from my friend in Florida.
"Hey art, got your microwave. That's the good news. Bad news is it was shipped in a thin wall cardboard box, not a scrap of packing material, and the idiot left the glass tray in the microwave." The thing looked like it had been dropped off a cliff, which is probably what ups did.
Complete write off.
And then I got a really bizarre email.

"Hello mr. Boas. My name is Bernard. I am cecialia's fiancé. She's been in a terrible car accident. I've been going through her personal records, and I see she was supposed to have shipped you something. Did you get it ok?"

I emailed back "Bernard". I told him that yes, I did get it, and I was pissed beyond belief at what an idiotic job Cecilia did packing my microwave.

"Bernard" then got back to me. He said that Cecilia was in intensive care, but he did ask her about my package, and she said it was packed perfectly. She said that ups must have removed the bubble wrap from the box.
WTF?????????
First of all, I don't know anyone who would be talking about bubble wrap in intensive care. Secondly, this all made zero sense.

So, I went back on ebay, and looked at Cecilia's account. She had skid several $3 bracelets in the last few days, and had several other trinkets for sale.
Somehow I don't think this is a priority in intensive care

So, I called her again. I told her I was disgusted with this fake fiancé and car crash BS story, and wanted my money back.
She refused to return any of my phone calls.

I then got a call from the Florida police. She claimed that I was threatening her life. Oh, great. Just what I needed.

So, I contacted paypal, and had them deal with her.

Good news...
I was able to buy another unit from someone who lived 20 minutes from my house.
Bizarre story.
All for a crummy coffee pot!
