Sending Units

Hi, I am looking for some advice. I have a Yanmar 3gm30f and the oil pressure indicator and heat indicator do not function on the main panel.

Past owner installed Teleflex(?) indicators separately for both oil pressure and temperature. However they are not connected to any sending units, nor does there appear to be any sending units in the engine right now.

So..... couple questions really, where can I (or can I at all) get the proper sending units to match the yanmar parts that would have been there, or can I still get yanmar oem sending units and can they be attached to these separate telelkfex indicator gauges?

thanks

I just installed sending units for my Teleflex gauges. You can buy these sending units at Defender. The water temp sender will screw into the engine although the threads are not exactly the same. The oil sender requires an adapter. I got mine at Jegs an auto parts catalog.

If you remove the factory senders you will loose your buzzers.

when I asked a Yanmar mechanic about this he recommended teeing off the existing ports so you have gauges and buzzers.

Careful

Many years ago I teed into oil pressure and yes was great for over a year but
one day motoring out the the inlet no wind  happen to notice the oil gauge
at O and no buzzer
I shut the engine down went below oil all over the engine pan and the tee snapped in half,

"threads are not the same" - ok but how did this work then?

I guess then this makes me wonder why wouldn't I just get oem sending units and hook them back up to the buzzer panel. I think for some reason they weren't working and the last owner threw in two Teleflex indicator gauges but didn't find anything to hook them up to. So I guess my choice is try oem sending units with the oem panel, and if that doesn't work then hook the wires to the telelflex gauges. (or is that impossible)?
