Stainless Fabricator Recommendations for Bent Anchor Roller?

My boat has a bent anchor roller. It came to us that way and wasn’t noticed until the first time deploying the anchor when we discovered the forward roller is seized. The bent portion is the self-launching piece that swivels up from the base plate. The way it is racked has captured the forward roller and is holding it so it won’t rotate. If I could get the roller out, I’d shave 1/16” off each end of it and probably be back in business, but unfortunately someone welded both ends of the forward roller pin to the side plates (not the original factory setup). Beneteau can replace the whole assembly for $600 but I’m sure a stainless fabricator could repair it for far less. I’d appreciate recommendations for a fabricator. I’m willing to ship the piece or have it repaired locally so long as it could be turned around quickly.

remove the roller and take a rubber mallet and straighten it!!..... no need to grind on the roller:D.... the side flanges are not very strong sideways and that is why it bent that direction.
individually the sides can be brought back into position very easy..... maybe even by pushing on them with your hand.

He says he can't remove the roller; use a mallet and kn ock her back in line! I agree with Centerline as that doesn't seem very hard to fix. How thick is that stock on each side? Chief

i missed this line... a $50 dollar 4" dewalt grinder grinder will make short work of the weld.... and apparently it may save you $550 dollars... use a stainless bolt to reassemble it... and keep the grinder for other boat projects:D
anyone who would weld the roller pin in such as yours is, has not had much experience around boats:doh:

+1 on cutting the weld away, but maybe just drill new holes? Otherwise, as long as you can stop the roller from rolling, I'd say work a saw between the roller and the bent bracket and slice off the end of the roller. A recipricating saw with the long blade should make short work of it.

SS is not so easy to bend- and to make sure it stays bent. Make a long story short, have the bracket next to a piling and pull the boat over to hit the bracket on the piling. You'd be surprised what 20K pounds of momentum can do. Worked for my pulpit.

That bracket is not so severely bent that you could not clamp something like a large crescent wrench to the plate and bend it back into position. Use a block of wood to get enough thickness to get around the flange at the front of the bracket. If you cannot get enough leverage, slide a piece of pipe over the wrench handle for extra length. As for pin, it's strange that it would be welded in place. Anchor rollers tend to be sacrificial and need to be replaced occasionally. Are you certain that the pin isn't just wedged in place because of the bend in the bracket?
