Well belligerence is always attractive. Manual bilge pumps truly aren't sexy. In a way, they're like shoe soles. Gotta have'em. Undeniably, though the soles of shoes are un sexy. Some cultures believe it is an affront to show the soles of your shoes.. Pakistan I think. Maybe this is a predominantly Pakistani group.
My first boat only had a manual. My second had two. That seemed like over kill, I mean it was tiller steering after all Both where gulpers I think. Interesting thing about a bilge pump. It's really the only thing on your boat that the more it sucks, the better it is. Maybe that's the answer to your question? How much suck do you need? I opt for as much as I can get. Is that brand A or brand B? Don't know but if this sucker is going to be the thing between me an wet ankles 3 miles off shore, I want to empty the boat as fast as I can, and have a design that is not easily clogged. Practical sailor has done some tests, I'm certain. Those are available online for a few bucks.
BTW patience is a virtue in sailing. It's been nice weather, people go out and...sail. We all ask for and get advice, some of it very good. But it's is free. So lighten up and don't take it personal. I've had a question posted here that is kinda important to me and hasn't had a single response in over a year.
