I am trying to buy the part that goes on the pin that fastenes the base of the mast to the mast step . Phill thinks he can get it but would like to see a picture . Does anyone have the ability to take a picture of this part for me ? Thanks Mike

That part went missing a long time ago on my boat. I just use the shackle on the end of the boom vang to go around the pin. The u shapped shackle can slip around the pin with the mast up, if turned sideways.

Mike, twalker's link is the part you've described. My only question would be about the pin diameter - I use that same bracket on my 240 with a 1/4" mast pin (which is the so-called "old design" or "old style" pin on the hunter parts site). I also frequently do what Dave described with my vang, not because I lost the bracket but because I forget to slip the bracket on the pin until the mast is already stepped. It has worked fine for me without the bracket.

The bolt I bought to go thru the mast and bas was 5/16 and seems to fit just about right . Not too tight , I am thinking I can do without the brackett ,

Can you take a photo so I can chime in as it has been some time. I could zero in on it quickly with a photo. As for clevis pins, generally a 1/4 was the general size but length will depend on the application or length required.
