Deck wash streaks

Hi, hoping someone can help me. Last year we had deck wash run down the side of our hull, and it created a few noticeable streaks. We are just prepping to get her back in the water. My question to the forum is, do you think we need to compound the hull? The hull otherwise looks really good, so we were hoping to just do a really good cleaning, and a nice coat of wax. Do you think a regular waxing would fill in the streaks? Any suggestions.?

take some wax on a rag and wax the streak and see what happens

I am with Woody. Take some wax and see if what happens... trial and error

If you run the buffer with the polishing pad and finesse-it over the hull (good to do annually to maintain the gel coat shine) it will usually remove 100% of that.

wax wont remove the streaks. I would use finesse it or the product of your choice then wax.

Finesse or any other cleaner which is for "LIGHT OXIDATION" of gel coat. Used this to remove bad stains on the deck from sanding ablative bottom coat. Takes a lot of elbow grease but not a big job.

Finesse is a polish, which is to maintain the finish and shine of the surface. It is good practice to polish the hull annually with Finesse.

Thank you

Thanks to all for your feedback, I suspected as much, but was hoping not to have to go that far. We are, as you can imagine eager to get into the water.
thanks again.

In the future, wash from the bottom up, then rinse down. If the sides had been wet, no streaks. At least wet the sides first, just good practice.

We were doing some spot cleaning and rinsed it right way, but alas, as you mentioned we'd probably not have had the problem if the hull was wet. Clearly good advice we'll keep in mind.

At the recommendation of yard neighbor, I tried Collinite 870 Cleaner & Wax. It was highly recommended by Practical Sailor (or maybe it was GOB) as a good 1 step product. Not as good as a polishing with Finesse It and a polisher but it did remove the dirt streaks and light rust marks and was much easier to do. I followed it with a couple of coats of 3M Marine Paste Wax.

A very common mistake. Done it. Still make the mistake, on occasion!

If it is only streaks from the deck after having sat for the winter I use a product called Serious Marine Cleaner to clean the hull. Removes all the dirt and streaks.
Then I polish with Pro Polish paint the bottom and launch.
