I'm guessing that water from the sink gets on the counter then runs down the joint where it butts to the bulkhead. My galley sink is the same way and I have to be careful to mop up the water. Might be best to run a bead of calk along all the joints around the sink counter to prevent that leakage and future rot? Use a finger tip to make a nice radius.
